Moab

Explore one of our favorite places on earth.

Weather

Springtime in Moab can be HOT, cool, or perfect— we’re hoping for perfect. To be safe, we suggest checking the weather the week before and packing accordingly.

The desert cools off quickly at night so a layer for the evening is good to bring either way. Pack your sunscreen and water bottles and remember that the desert sun is very strong.

General Area

Hwy 191 runs through the town center of Moab. This is home base for gas, food, and anything else you’ll need. Red Cliffs Lodge is 25 minutes east of town, along Scenic Hwy 128.

There are no gas stations and no other amenities besides the lodge and a few other small accommodations on Hwy 128.

The entrance to Arches National Park is 10 minutes north of town and the entrance to Canyonlands Island in the Sky is 30 minutes north of town. All of the mountain biking and hiking trails are in the surrounding area around Moab— most are within 20-30 minutes of downtown.

Getting around

Moab is BIG. Driving to and from trailheads, in the national parks, and from Red Cliffs to town takes time. Luckily the drives are spectacular and the roads are easy to navigate. Renting a car is far and away the best way to get around. We highly recommend this route as it will allow you to visit all of the surrounding attractions.

Restaurants & Coffee

Milt’s Stop ‘n Eat Burgers

Milt's Stop ‘n Eat is a Moab classic and happens to be the town's oldest restaurant. They've been serving burgers, shakes, and fries since 1945. It's a great place to grab a bite to eat after an active day and even if there is a line it's worth the wait. They have a nice patio with shade to enjoy your meal.

Moab Food Truck Park

If you can't agree on where to eat, then try Moab Food Truck park. The options are rotating except for the mainstay "Quesadilla Mobilla" on the corner— which happens to be our favorite.

Moab Garage Co.

Moab Garage Co. has quickly become our go to morning stop. They offer delicious food for breakfast and lunch along with coffee, espresso, and smoothies. The place is always hopping and makes for a great meet up spot before heading out for the day.

98 Center

98 Center is just off Main Street and offers Vietnamese inspired cuisine alongside cocktails and beers. Their bao buns and Pho are delicious. This is more of a local joint, away from the touristy popular spots on the main drag.

Trailhead Public House & Eatery

If you’re looking for burgers, sandwiches, and beers, then Trailhead will make for a good stop. It’s a casual location conveniently located right on Main Street.

Thai Bella

Thai Bella is first come first served, no reservations, offering excellent Thai Food in an old mansion. Their patio is a great place to hang out and enjoy the evening.

Shops

Moab Made

This shop, right next to Moab Garage co., is loaded with local art and prints. They have ceramics and many other souvenirs. Our favorite Moab artist, Antonio Savarese, has his work shown in their gallery.

Back of Beyond Books

If you’ve got a hankering for a desert read then head to Back of Beyond. They have a great selection of fiction and nonfiction, guide books for the surrounding area, and the quintessential works of the American Southwest.

Gearheads Outdoor Store

When you need a new backpack or you’ve poked a hole in your hiking socks, you need to pay a visit to Gearheads. They’ll have everything you need… and everything you never knew you needed.
